The appointment has been the best hair appointment that I have ever had. Mrs. Davis is very welcoming, she made me feel comfortable. She taught me so much about my hair and my scalp which gave me the confidence I needed to wear my locks freely. I suffer from chronic dandruff and after just one appointment I walked out of Ms. Jessica salon with a healthier looking scalp. I can write all day about my experience because it was that GOOD! More than five stars rating.

Mrs. Jessica is the best at what she does! She is very knowledgeable! She cares about health not just doing hair! I am glad I chose to start my sisterlock journey at Au So Natural Hair Care! The shop has a very relaxing mood!

I heard that Jessica was coming to the Island of Oahu and I waited for her to get there. Jessica is an absolute pleasure to work with. She’s an expert at her craft and will not disappoint. She established both my daughter and I sisterlocks and we couldn’t be happier. One experience in her chair and you’ll understand this review. My daughter and I are excited for what our future holds as we embark upon and embrace this journey. Thank you for getting us started.

Sisterlocks FAQ's

Sisterlocks is a natural hair management system that creates tiny style-able locks. It allows women with tightly textured hair to take advantage of a wide range of today’s hairstyles without having to alter the natural texture of their hair or add any unsafe hair products or heat.

Yes. Though the transition will take more time, your hair care professional who is trained in Sisterlocks techniques can help you make that transition. Your styling options will increase as your natural texture grows out.

Technically, yes, though the procedure is so tedious, you will not want to get Sisterlocks with that intention. Once you discover the range of freedom with Sisterlocks, you will not want to go back! Finally, there is a way of celebrating the natural beauty of our hair with Sisterlocks!

This is not advised. Not all hair types require the same locking technique. Your hair care professional is best trained to give you locks that will be best suited for you. Also, many hair care professionals are trained to give you cuts, styles and grooming tips that will ensure the lasting beauty of your locks. By the way, once your Sisterlocks are well established you can take a retightening class to learn how to maintain your own hair. This is great for when you travel, miss an appointment, or if you just want to save money on long-term maintenance. We strongly recommend that you see a consultant 2-3 times a year for to keep your Sisterlocks looking beautiful!

Hair Loss FAQ's

Alopecia is the scientific term for Hair loss can appear in many ways, depending on what’s causing it. It can come on suddenly or gradually and affect just your scalp or your whole body.

Hair shedding, and hair loss are different. According to the American Academy of Dermatology Association, shedding between 50 and 100 hairs a day is normal. Plus, people often experience excessive hair shedding following stressful events, such as giving birth, losing weight, having a medical operation or recovering from an illness.

Hair loss occurs when something stops the hair from growing. Common causes of hair loss include genetics, autoimmune conditions, hormone imbalances, nutritional deficiencies, physical stressors, and certain hair grooming practices. Gradual thinning on the top of your head, the appearance of patchy or bald spots on your scalp, and full-body hair loss may be signs of an underlying health condition. If you’re concerned about how much hair you are losing, schedule an appointment with your doctor to put your mind at ease. A doctor will be able to assess whether your strand loss is abnormal.

The good news is that in many cases, hair loss is only temporary.  However, some cases can be chronic and slowly progressive. Regrowth is possible with the right care and treatment. Therefore, it’s important to see your doctor for a diagnosis and treatment options sooner rather than later.

Shampooing regularly actually helps keep your hair and scalp healthy and is unrelated to hair loss. On the other hand, coloring, perming or relaxing your hair regularly, can damage your hair, which can eventually lead to losses. Hair appliances that use high heat, like blow dryers and curling irons, can also lead to damaged hair and breakage, which can look like baldness. While you can change how you care for your hair, once a hair follicle is damaged, hair cannot grow from that follicle.

Yes, poor nutrition can cause hair loss. Specifically, there are 4 vitamin deficiencies that affect hair health, including vitamin D, biotin, vitamin A and iron. For instance, if you’ve recently started a crash diet, it could be the cause of your loss.

When it comes to hair disorders, a Dermatologist or Certified Trichologist, is who we recommend our clients to see. They are the experts in diagnosing and treating hair disorders. The sooner you find the root of the problem, the better your chances are of getting results you will receive.
